Last Day Of Summer Vacation

Today the kids' had their first lesson on how to kayak.  Thank you Barb, for taking the time out of your day and having the patience to let us come and play.  It was something new that we haven't ever done before.  It was something the kids enjoyed completely!  Thank you!

Sew.

Oh the things you learn when you have older sisters!

Today I come home from practice to find Cheyenne teaching Jack-jack how to sew.  Now, if I do say so myself, the teacher sure did a great job!  Look at the little guys first ever with a needle and thread.  Your grandmas will be proud!

Way to go you two!!!

Volleyball Season Begins!

Volleyball season has begun.  Last week were the girls' first practices.

Morning practices are Hannah's routine.  It's nice to have practices in the morning.  The gym is a lot cooler.  This year I am coaching the 7th grade girls.  Looks like we have potential.  We just have some work ahead of us.

Cheyenne has evening practices.  She is in 5th grade this year which means she is old enough to play for SKS.  She is thrilled to be on a team and playing--not just cheering on the team from the bleachers.
Anxiously waiting for the games to begin!

The Dells

We just got back from one big last hooray before school starts.  We spent our days at Christmas Mountain (thank you Pee Wee and Samantha!) in the Dells.  Our big highlight of the trip was Noah's Ark (thanks again Pee Wee!).  It was the kids first time to the Ark.  They had a blast!

Blowing Bubbles

The kids pick themselves buckets of apples and then bat them into the fence for the pigs to eat.

It's not all play around here.  Jack-jack helping big Jack do "man's work" as he calls it.

First Cavities

Last week the kids had dentist appointments for a cleaning.  The girls walked away with still not a single cavity.  The poor little boy however had 8!  The kids don't eat many sweets, hardly ever (only on special occasions) drink a soft drink, and their brushing habits couldn't be better.  Turns out Jack-jack inherited the teeth that are just more susceptible.  And the places where the cavities were a brush could never get.  Made me feel a little bit better.  Well, today was round one (of three) for getting those cavities filled.  Jack-jack did a great job.  The dentist couldn't believe how he didn't even flinch when he gave him the shots to numb where he'd be working.  It went quick.  Jack-jack got to pick out two toys (who knew the dentists give out toys for being a good patient?!?) and walked away all giggles because his mouth felt so "funny".

Here's Jack-jack trying to smile.  Doesn't work so well when your lips are numb.  He's also showing off some the new toys he got to pick out for being so good.

School Shopping

Went school shopping with the kids today.  Got most of the stuff that they need from their lists.  Still a few more things to get.  UNBELIEVABLE how much $$$ can be spent on glue sticks, paper, notebooks, folders, etc.  and that's not even taking into consideration all of the things we are reusing/recycling from last year.  CRAZY!!!

Enjoying A Nice Summer Day

Today we enjoyed a nice summer afternoon hanging out on Druid Lake.  The kids enjoyed themselves swimming in the lake (thank you Debbie!).  We even got to go on a pontoon ride (thank you Barb!).

An Afternoon Movie

Yesterday it was hot and humid outside.  Just plain YUCKY!!!  Decided to pack up and find something "cool" to do.  Decided on afternoon movie at theater.  Went to see The Smurfs.  Talk about going back in time!  The movie was really cute.  Lots of funnies for all ages.  It was nice to find something that everyone enjoyed.  That seems to be harder to do now that the girls are getting older and Jack-jack is so "boy".  But everyone agreed it was a good afternoon!

I do have to show you what my mom dug out of the closet!  It's a Smurf radio from when I was younger.  One little wire is broke, but have to see if hubby can fix it.  Then we can see if it still works.  I know I also had a lamp, but she couldn't find that.  However she did come across a Smurf baby buggy for dolls, but I think that was mine and Sara's (sister) to share.  Too funny!
